What do cats, nature, and smart feeding routines have in common?
At 3coty® we believe that numbers tell stories. After all, our name starts with a number, and our product names are based on numbers too. Every number we use has meaning for us. Numbers are easier to remember for some than the full name of a product.
But one number keeps showing up in all the right places. Not 13. Not 17. But 6.
It might seem simple. But 6 is a magic number. Not just because we pack our tins that way, but because nature, mathematics, and human cultures have all come to the same conclusion that 6 is a number that works.
People say that six means harmony. In numerology, 6 is the number of care, balance, responsibility, and home. All things a cat understands deeply. In mathematics, it is a perfect number. The sum of its parts is equal to the whole. It is also the only number that is both the sum and the product of the same three numbers. One plus two plus three equals six. One times two times three also equals six. That kind of balance is rare and powerful.
Six is the number of nature. Bees knew it first. The hexagon, with its six strong, equal sides, is the most efficient shape in the natural world. Six-legged insects are the planet’s foundation species. In cultures around the world, six represents peace, flow, and completeness. In Chinese, it means everything goes smoothly. Nature and science love hexagons. You see them in honeycombs, snowflakes, the structure of benzene molecules, flower shapes, and crystals.
Six also shows up in belief and ritual. God created the world in six days. The Star of David has six points. In Islam there are six articles of faith. Cats, of course, are creatures of Gods. So the number makes perfect sense.
Why does 6 matter at 3coty®?
We started with three original recipes and soon added three more. Each one pure, balanced, and made only with what cats really need. That structure remains part of our brand’s DNA. Our flavours may have grown, but the idea behind them has not changed.
We also think of six as the number of feline essentials. Nutrition, hydration, rest, safety, stimulation, and connection. When you think in sixes, you think holistically.
In our world, a six-pack of tins is just as efficient. It travels better, stacks better, and stores better. When you buy in sixes, twelves, or twenty-fours, you reduce waste and simplify storage. No extra packaging. No strange numbers. Just flow.
Not 13. Not 17. Six is the kind number. Even the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals picked a prime number, number 17. Important, but awkward. We are not claiming to fix the world. But working in sixes is our way of staying balanced. It is practical, ecological, and quietly smart.
Six is not random. It is chosen. By bees. By mathematicians. By cultures. By us.
Next time you stock up on tins, think in sixes. It helps reduce waste. It keeps routines steady and simple. It just works.
We call that harmony.

Did you know?
Some cats really do carry the number 6. Polydactyl cats are born with six or more toes per paw, most often on the front feet. This natural trait is most commonly seen in Maine Coons and has a long history in the northeastern United States and Canada, especially in coastal areas.
The earliest known records of polydactyl cats date back to the 1800s, when sailors believed they brought good luck and better balance on ships. Ernest Hemingway famously kept many of them at his home in Key West. To this day, polydactyl cats are often called “Hemingway cats” in his honour.
