Well-being means understanding different needs
In recent years, well-being has become a central theme in how people think about food, health, and everyday choices. Healthier diets, better quality ingredients, reduced alcohol consumption, quitting smoking, improved sleep, and a stronger focus on longevity all reflect a growing desire to live better for longer. Food is no longer just fuel. It is part of how people take responsibility for their future health.
#Veganuary fits naturally into this shift. The initiative began in the United Kingdom and was co founded in 2013 by Jane Land and Matthew Glover, with the first public campaign launching in January 2014. What started with a few thousand participants has grown into a global movement, with millions of people worldwide now taking part each year. For many, #Veganuary is not about perfection, but about awareness and conscious choice when it comes to what they eat.
But when it comes to cats, the situation is fundamentally different. Cats do not choose their diet in the way we do. We decide what we offer, what we buy, and what goes into their bowl. When a cat enters our life, responsibility follows, and every meal we serve plays a direct role in their health, comfort, and quality of life.
Cats are obligate carnivores. Their biology is built around meat. Their digestive system, metabolism, teeth, and instincts all reflect this reality. Cats are also the only fully carnivorous predators we have ever domesticated, and they were domesticated late. That closeness to their wild ancestors still matters today. A cat sleeping on a sofa is still a hunter by nature, and hunters need animal nutrition to thrive.
Applying human food trends to cats, even with the best intentions, ignores this biological truth. Feeding cats meat is not a philosophy, a trend, or a lifestyle statement. It is basic care rooted in nature. That is why at 3coty® we stand for meat only nutrition for cats. Not as a reaction to #Veganuary or any other trend, but as a commitment to well-being done right.
So while #Veganuary encourages people to explore new paths for themselves, we introduce another idea alongside it. #Carnivuary for cats. And #Carnivuary365. Because cats need meat every day, all year round, for life.
Choose consciously for yourself. Choose correctly for your cat. Because love means knowing the difference.
